Places To Play Pickup Hockey In NYC

Looking for a little extra ice time?
Missed registration for the winter leagues?
Are you a rationale adult who doesn’t want to commit to a league that plays at midnight on a Monday?

You can play pickup hockey in NYC! Sure it’s more expensive and slightly less convenient than playing on the rink your neighbor built in his backyard, but thankfully we don’t live in Minnesota (no offense to you Gophers out there). Embrace the winter, and get your skates sharpened.

Lasker Rink - Central Park (Subway - 2/3 to 110th Street)

While I would love to keep this one a secret, it wouldn’t be fair to leave this gem off the list. A pool in the summer months that gets transformed into two outdoor rinks complete with chainlink fencing that is sure make anyone who grew up playing outdoors nostalgic.
Stick and puck sessions available throughout the winter. Check website for times.

Chelsea Piers - Pier 61 (Bus - M23)

No adult in the city who can confidently say they are a Bauer or CCM skate kind of person isn’t familiar with the rinks at Chelsea Piers. You can blame your gasping for air on the high altitude of the second floor. Open hockey is 12:00pm-1:20pm most weekdays.
