33 lions have been rescued from illegal circuses and they're finally going to get to go home.

These lions have never felt the grass beneath their feet, or the felt the sun on their backs.

Last Sunday Animal Defenders International performed the biggest Cat airlift in history, to take these lucky Lions back to Africa.

It was a big operation including SWAT teams in some cases. All of these Lions have been abused. But it was all worth it for this; Iron-the first lion to be released into his new home, rubs himself against a tree. For the very first time.

These lions wouldn't survive in the wild because many have been mutilated by Circus workers.

But they have a beautiful new home at the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary.
