Lamplighter

Lamplighter

Before the invention of gas lamps, city streets were dark and perilous places. Lamplighters were charged with lighting the lamps before sunset and extinguishing them when the Sun came up. Lamplighters were seen as trusted men and cheerfully carried about their ladders, wick trimmers, and jars of whale blubber. Just like lamplighters you have a great sense of humour and are proud of your work.

Knocker-Up

Knocker-Up

Imagine a world without alarm clocks. How would people get up in the morning? Thankfully, Britons had knocker-ups - knocker-ups utilized long metal-tipped poles to knock on slabs of slate placed near bedroom windows. Customers would write the time they wished to be woken up on the slate slabs. Just like the knocker-ups, you are hardworking and reliable!

During the Victorian era, medicine grew in size and regulation. In the early Victorian era it was dominated by the gentlemen physicians, with surgeons and apothecaries occupying lower positions. They were gentlemen of the old school and deemed socially acceptable. They were often invited to dine with the families they treated, or spend the night as guests. Just like the physicians of the ninteenth century, you're sharp, professional and wise.

rungs on the social ladder than the rest of the clerical populace. Recruitement into banking was based on personal recommendation and asurety in the form of a bond - displaying the integrity and and moral qualities of the employee. Like the bankers of the Victorian era, you are trustworthy, thoughtful, and determined.

Blacksmith

Blacksmith

Blacksmiths, who have a history that goes back thousands of years, had a far higher economic and social position than farm or factory workers in the Victorian era. As highly skilled artisans, they also managed to remain independent and in demand until well into the twentieth century. Blacksmiths performed two main functions - as a farrier shoeing horses, and as a smith working to make and mend tools and agricultural implements, wheel trims, nails, locks, bolts and so on. Like the blacksmiths of the nineteenth century you are strong, independent and aren't afriad to get your hands dirty.
