Drink water! (And remember the power of comfort food.)

Okay maybe you aren't really feeling up to eating, exactly. And that's fine. If you can, at least try some simple carb-style meals to get energy if you can't eat much. Or perhaps try some comfort foods. Remember the meals that make you remember things and people you love. Cooking it could be just as therapeutic as eating it.

But water is important. You'll feel much worse without it. Sip whenever you can.

2

Talk to someone.

If you're nervous, scared, what have you, don't be afraid to talk to someone. Reach out to a family member or friend, and if that isn't enough, there are hotlines.
Here is a list to some: http://bit.ly/2eDQf5M
And if you can't physically talk, use this: https://www.imalive.org/

3

Distract yourself.

Do something that will occupy your mind. Watch television or listen to music. Hang out with your roommates if you have any. If your thoughts are too much, try as hard as you can to not be alone. Find a movie you love and just let it drown everything else out. If you do feel like you need to be alone, maybe read for a bit to take up your thoughts.

4

Keep your hands busy.

Bring out that hobby you haven't had time for. Write in your journal. Grab a coloring book and some pencils. Knit. Find something to do that will make you feel slightly productive while still enjoying yourself. Try to beat that level on a video game, if you want.

5

Pamper yourself.

Draw a bubble bath. Put on a face mask. Doesn't matter if you're male or female. Just enjoy yourself. Drink a glass of wine (if you still have any left from election night). Actually go through your whole skincare routine. Take an extra long shower. Give yourself a pedicure. Treat yo'self. After this week, you deserve it.

6

Move your body.

If you're tense, your body is probably feeling it too. Try some easy stretching routines (this is a great one: http://bit.ly/2elhYgn) or yoga and just try to let your mind escape. Maybe go on a walk if you can. You don't have to sweat, but don't let your body ache tomorrow because you're incredibly stressed today.

7

Remember to breathe.

Anxiety is going to be everywhere for a while. When you can't just block it out anymore, use some aids to breathe. Here are some calming gifs (including some breathing coaching ones): http://plbz.it/2fmUXGR
