Trump Wants Military To Pay For Border Wall

The building of the border wall across the southern U.S. border was been a sticking point since President Trump was still only a candidate.

Trump would reassure his base that Mexico would pay for the wall, but that has yet to pan out. Now, the president has been quietly looking for other options to finance the project.

President Trump has been talking with advisors about pushing for the military to fund the wall project.

This comes after the large spending bill was passed that only set aside $1.6 billion, a very small fraction of the total cost for the project.

The president cited a “national security” risk as the reason for pushing the Pentagon to find a way to fund the wall project.

According to three people close to the situation, President Trump spoke with Speaker of the House Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) that the military should pay for the wall

Reports indicate that the president spoke with senior aides saying that the Defense Department could easily handle the cost with the $700 billion they received from the spending package.

President Trump took to Twitter to address the situation tweeting out “Build WALL through M!” Several White House advisors indicated that the "M" in the tweet stands for military.
