President Trump used the Clinton Foundation to attack his opponent, Hillary Clinton. But at a speech today, President Trump praised an opioid program that is backed by the very same foundation.
It is not clear if the president knew that the program he was praising was created with the help of the Clinton Foundation. This comes at the same time as the Justice Department is investigating allegations of corruption regarding the foundation.
Adapt Pharma makes the drug Narcan, a drug used to help save people overdosing from opioids, freely available to high schools, colleges and universities. Mr. Trump personally thanked the president of Adapt Pharma, Mike Kelly, for his company's "amazing and generous offer."
At a speech in New Hampshire on Monday, President Trump stated that "Adapt Pharma makes an overdose-reversing drug for opioids, which I've watched and seen work. It's called Narcan. It's actually incredible. Today, we applaud Adapt Pharma's decision to provide free -- free Narcan to all high schools, colleges and universities in America."
Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton and an often time critical voice of Trump, thanked the president for acknowledging the foundations efforts. Via her Twitter account, Chelsea Clinton addressed the speech saying "Mr. President, thank you for recognizing the @ClintonFdn’s work with Adapt Pharma to prevent opioid overdose deaths and save lives.
