WASHINGTON - The staff shake-up inside the Trump administration continues with the ouster of Thomas Bossert, Trump's homeland security chief advisor.
This move comes as John Bolton, Trump's new, and his third, national security advisor, takes over and begins making changes inside the White House.
The removal of Mr. Bossert comes as a surprise to many, including Mr. Bossert himself. Bossert had spent the weekend on television defending Mr. Trump's immigration policy.
White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders said of the ouster that “The president is grateful for Tom’s commitment to the safety and security of our great country."
She continues by saying "Tom led the White House’s efforts to protect the homeland from terrorist threats, strengthen our cyberdefenses and respond to an unprecedented series of natural disasters."
Mr. Bossert was one of the few high-level advisors inside the Trump White House that had support and was praised by both Republicans and Democrats.
Among his many duties, Mr. Bossert was running point on working to defend the United States from terrorism and cybersecurity threats.
