Benjamin Maenza, a U.S. Marine that served in Afghanistan, lost his leg while jet skiing on Old Hickory Lake. Luckily, rescuers were able to scope through the murky waters and help Maenza out!
Travis Kimmons and Eric Fotenot, firefighters for Hendersonville Fire Department, were on the scene:
Fotenot and Kimmons spent nearly six hours searching the murky waters of Old Hickory Lake for Maenza's leg. "The silt and algae is so profound that you literally can't see your hand in front of your face," said Kimmons.
We got lucky though, it was a tough search.

The prosthetic leg belongs to Ben Maenza, a Lance Cpl. in the Marines, who lost his legs when he stepped on an IED in 2010. However, Ben has not let his injuries define him and has since completed in a number of wheel chair races across the country.
