Renowned photographer Miles Aldridge was responsible for Time Magazine's Game of Thrones cast photoshoot this year on the eve of the season seven premier, and the results are completely unexpected. When asked about his influences for the shoot, Aldridge said that he had chosen elements of Hollywood sets and costumes from the 1940s through the 1960s but there are distinctly Elizabethan vibes to the portraits as well.

The vivid color narrative in each [photo] brings the viewers into the world I have created for these actors while the careful placement and selection of each prop brings to life the mystical, dark world of The Game of Thrones.

Aldridge also said that while the colors are used to emphasize individual character traits, it was the intense focus on individual characters and actors that originally brought about the inspiration for the shoot.

When thinking of how to photograph each individual I wanted to acknowledge influences of themes in the show while capturing the traits of their own unique characters.
