After repeatedly forgetting lyrics to songs he has sung for the last 50 years at a concert in California this weekend, Partridge Family star and musician David Cassidy has made the heartbreaking public announcement that he is battling dementia at the age of 66.
Cassidy said that he had been "in denial" about his condition after watching both his mother and grandfather slowly slip away because of the disease, but he now has decided to retire from music in order to focus his efforts on fighting it.
A part of me always knew this was coming... I want to focus on what I am, who I am, and how I’ve been without any distractions. I want to love. I want to enjoy life.
