Rather than waiting on Washington D.C. to pass a public health plan option, Nevada plans to introduce state Medicaid for all.

There is no way people can be productive members of society and take care of their families if health care is a privilege and not a right.

Nevada Moves To Revolutionize Medicaid
On Friday, Nevada passed a bill that would allow the state’s 2.8 million residents access to a public health insurance option. In summary, the bill would expand Medicaid, the state-run federal health insurance program for the poor, to be purchased by all, regardless of their income levels, age or health status.
Under this bill, residents who currently qualify for tax credits under the Affordable Care Act, would then be able to use those credits towards Medicaid coverage instead.
How will the 'Nevada Care Plan' work?
Good Question!
Any resident in the state who lacks health insurance, either through their employers, the Affordable Care Act or Medicare for the elderly, would be allowed to purchase coverage under the state-run Medicaid system, also known as the Nevada Care Plan.
In addition, people who are currently receiving subsidized coverage under the Affordable Care Act, could apply their federal tax subsidies to purchase a Medicaid plan.
The plan will most likely be sold on the state-run health insurance exchange, making it competitive with private health insurance plans. Advocates for the new healthcare plan hope to provide an inexpensive alternative to private individual health insurance.
That's great news!
There's just one last hurdle...
Awaiting approval...
Let's hope Gov. Sandoval approves the bill!
