You are a golfer!

You are a golfer!

You’ve heard of a runner’s high? Golfers have their own version and it takes place on an uncrowded golf course, proceeding at any pace you choose. As someone who is spontaneous and independent, you enjoy the freedom of playing on a field with few boundaries. After all, what other game is played on 200 acres or more?

Stone Mountain Park Day Guide: Tee off at one of two 18-hole golf courses, which wind through a forest of Georgia pines and Stone Mountain Lake. The views of natural rock formations alone will make your day. Whichever course you choose to steer your irons and your golf cart along, reward yourself with a meal at The Commons Restaurant where you can find gourmet burgers, big salads and more.

You are a hiker!

You are a hiker!

Hikers are optimistic and prepared for anything. Every hiker has a plan before he or she begins: how long to hike, how much food is necessary and so on. But even of the warmest days, hikers will have thermals and a rain jacket just in case. Because hikers know their plans aren’t set in stone, changing their route last minute doesn’t cause them any worries; every detour is a new adventure.

Stone Mountain Park Day Guide: The park features 15 miles of hiking and walking trails, including the 1 mile trail to the top of the mountain. For a moderate hike, take the 1.5 mile Muscogee Trail which loops within the park. The trail head begins in the parking lot on Jefferson David Drive, about one-fourth mile from the East Gate entrance. The 5-mile Cherokee Trail and National Recreation Trail include wooded areas, lake shores and granite slopes of the mountain. For a quiet place to reflect, check out Nature Garden Trail where you can see native plants and clear mountain streams.

You are a camper!

You are a camper!

Campers can be whoever they want to be during the week, but on the weekends, they are low-maintenance and nature-loving explorers. Rather than spoil their thoughts with mindless drama, campers pack light both physically and mentally. For those who need a break from the chaos of modern living, research suggests that camping can help with insomnia. Head to the wilderness if you want to reset your biological clock and put your body and mind back in synch with the world around you.

Stone Mountain Park Day Guide: Leave your iPad at home, turn off your phone and allow yourself to decompress. The park includes 431 campsites with full and partial hook-ups for RVs and tents. On the Stone Mountain Park website, you can find several package deals like the weekend stay & play. It comes with two nights at a full or partial hookup campsite, four two-day Adventure Passes, and a bundle of firewood.

You are an angler!

You are an angler!

Those who enjoy fishing can be described as consistent, persistent and curious. They study the fish’s habitat and experiment until they find something that works. Since weather and the time of day can impact a fish’s feeding activity, those who want to catch a fish worth bragging about have to be willing to stick with it and wait for good conditions. Many anglers also love that fishing provides them with a great excuse to relax and be close to nature, which is what summer should be about.

Stone Mountain Park Day Guide: If you don’t have one already, be sure to buy a Georgia Fishing License. Fishing is permitted on the lake from 6 a.m. until midnight and the types of fish include bass, carp, crappie, catfish and bream. You can find the public boat ramp located near the Evergreen Pavilion.

You are a climber!

You are a climber!

Climbers tend to be bold, carefree and appreciative of the environment and all that it’s capable of. Even if you’re not a climber on the grand scale, the dedication you have to completing uphill feats is impressive. Climbers aren’t afraid to take risks and are usually down for something new and exciting. They’re also known for their perseverance – since the climb is always worth the view, hardly anything will get in their way.

Stone Mountain Park Day Guide: If you want a little more adventure on your trip, take the 1 mile trek to the top of the mountain. The trail is open from dawn to dusk. Just follow the painted yellow line and enjoy the scenery and unique views. The SkyHike is also good for daredevils (and their family). On the quarter of a mile course you’ll master suspended wooden bridges, leap from one wooden slat to another and climb to the top on vertical net bridges. Fortunately, an overhead safety system is there to keep your adventure safe.

You are a cyclist!

You are a cyclist!

Along with being open and approachable, cyclists are known for their creative side. Breaking through mental blocks and steering ideas to new places can all happen on two wheels. Many cyclists are also handy (after years of honing bike-maintenance skills) and open to meeting new people. Especially since that might be someone who wants to ride with them next week.

Stone Mountain Day Guide: Bicyclists (as well as joggers and walkers) can circle the mountain on Robert E. Lee Boulevard, which is a 5 mile loop. There’s a dedicated bicycle lane on Robert E. Lee Boulevard on the back side of the mountain between Confederate Hall and the Grist Mill. Bikes are permitted during both daylight hours and after dark, with proper lights. Be sure to ride single file and follow all traffic laws.
