Prince George starts school today at the ultra-posh Thomas's in Battersea!

There's a lot of differences between schools in England and schools in the United States. For example, most schoolchildren in the United Kingdom wear uniforms to school. The uniforms generally have the school crest on the shirt pockets, as well as the left breast of sweaters and the ever-fashionable school blazer. Prince George here is resplendent in his school sweater, and short pants, as is customary for a young royal his age.

Prince William brought George to school for drop-off today, while mum Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, recovers from morning sickness caused by her current pregnancy.

It's customary these days for parents to do pick up and drop off from school every day. Here in the good 'ol U S of A, we ride the gosh darn yellow school bus like every Tom, Dick, and (not prince) Harry, because of things like FREEDOM, and DEMOCRACY, and PUBLIC SCHOOLS, and also BALD EAGLES. Mostly bald eagles. And some fireworks. BECAUSE AMERICA.

Prince George, to his credit, has the right attitude for one's first day of school: SCARED AF.

Don't you remember how terrifying it was to start the first day of school? Having no idea what your classmates would be like... like, who was going to be the bully? Who was going to be popular? Would you make an idiot out of yourself in front of the entire class? All joking aside, it's impossible to imagine what it must be like to not only be royal, but to be the future king of England, going to school. What kind of pressure is that? George, our hearts go out to you.

Prince George is the spitting image of his father, Prince William, on his first day of school! Here's a throwback, with his mother, Princess Diana of Wales.

Honestly, if Princess Diana wasn't in this picture, we could easily mistake Prince George for Prince William. Family resemblance runs deep in the royal family, and George and William are no exception to the rule! Although I guess this kind of tosses out my whole rambling on DEMOCRACY and PUBLIC SCHOOLS in America, because Princess Diana definitely did pick up and drop off for Princes William and Harry. So that makes the United Kingdom WAY more advanced than America, is basically what I'm trying to say here.

In case anyone's wondering, George will be known as "George Cambridge" while at school, as evidenced by the label on his backpack:

Umm. How come we've never had such cool backpack labels!? I immediately demand that either Fjallraven or Herschel immediately cease all current design and production operations and start including these SUPER FETCH labels on all backpacks. And yes, we're making fetch happen, because it's British slang, and this is a story about British people. Oi, come at me, mate.

Prince William: Dad of the Year!

After spending nearly 40 minutes inside the school after dropping off Prince George, Prince William got in his own fancy af Range Rover and drove his royal self BACK to Buckingham Palace. Gotta admire the self-sufficiency of the royal family, because we don't see the First Family doing that back here in GOOD OL' AMERICA. Also, has anyone said a darn tootin' thing about Prince William's glasses? Because he's totally heading into DILF territory there (with apologies to the monarchy, but mostly my mom. HI MOM.)
