We all know these dogs. They see a person coming a mile away and they are already wiggling their entire body with excitement. They jump up, they lick, the push into you and roll over for a belly rub. They can’t help their excitement, they just love people. And it seems you do too! You are most likely the life of the party and have a large of circle of friends because everyone you meet is instantly a BFF!

While The Overjoyed Greeter might get a little liberal with those kisses, some dogs take it a bit too far and tend to sniff places we humans do not want sniffed! They keep their noses in those places for far too long, creating uncomfortable situations for the humans involved. When you greet humans, you tend to ask lots of personal questions right off the bat and think nothing of it. Or maybe you linger just a bit too long in your handshake. Ever hugged a stranger? You know all the gossip on everyone. It is okay, some people like it – especially if they happen to be the same type of greeter as you!

This dog sees a person coming and just pretends they don’t exist. Pet them, don’t pet them, it’s all the same to them. They may sit politely because they have been taught to do so, but there is no sign they are enjoying the encounter (or not enjoying it for that matter). Just like you may greet every single person at your job because you know you have to, but inside you’re thinking about that good book you are currently reading.

They would rather get their vaccines than have to greet a human. You avoid social gatherings and don’t know your coworkers. You spend your lunch hour eating in your own office with the door locked, or maybe even in your car. You have a circle of close friends you love and trust, and that’s all you need.
