Same Difference (The X Factor 2007)

This brother-sister duo surprised everyone in 2007 by singing their way through to the final of the talent contest, eventually finishing third.

Since coming to our screens the siblings signed a deal with Syco and released their debut single We R One.

But a year later they were dropped from Simon Cowell's label due to poor album sales.

After failing to revive their career the pair set up the Same Difference Pop Academy in Portsmouth to offer holiday courses for children, and even made an audacious attempt to represent Switzerland in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest - despite having no Swiss blood.

In 2014 they finally announced their split, and big brother Sean has now gone solo, releasing his third single 'Fire' last month.

The track reached number four on the UK iTunes chart and 20 on the UK iTunes vocal singles chart.

Ricky Martin (The Apprentice 2012)

Former professional wrestler Ricky Martin shot to fame by winning Lord Alan Sugar's heart on the 2012 version of the hit business show.

Ricky, who studied at St Vincent College in Gosport, soon set up his own business as managing director of Hyper Recruitment Solutions.

Since winning the show he has taken part in a number of public events, in particular about careers in apprenticeships.

It wasn't the first time he had been on TV though, having appeared on a 2009 version of the BBC show Total Wipeout.

Bessie Cursons (Britain's Got Talent 2007)

The Cosham girl auditioned for the first series of BGT in 2007, aged 11, and sung Wouldn't It Be Loverly from the musical My Fair Lady.

After getting through the first stage she won a place in the first ever final, losing to opera singer Paul Potts despite her rendition of Get Me To The Church On Time, also from My Fair Lady.

Bessie has remained on our screens though, appearing in the 2009 film Nativity! alongside Martin Freeman and Alan Carr and is currently starring in the CITV show Phone Genie.

She has also had roles in Casualty last year and in a West End production of Oliver.

4

Helena Blackman (How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? 2006)

As a certain song goes - I get knocked down, but I get up again.

That was very relevant for Helena Blackman in the 2006 BBC series, where despite facing the bottom two elimination for four weeks during her time there she was named runner-up behind Connie Fisher.

Since the show ended she has carved out a successful career on stage, with roles including the Wizard of Oz in 2006 and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in 2014.

From August 7-20 this year she starred in a Spoonful of Sherman at Live at Zedel in London.

Lina Hodgkins and Jon Stretton-Knowles (Life on Marbs 2015)

Lina and Jon caused a stir when they both appeared on the ITVBe show last show.

Lina had been living in the sunny Spanish beach resort since 2004 but admitted to The News that she always loves coming back to her hometown in Portsmouth.

Jon, a former St John's College pupil and self-made millionaire, took part in the show after selling his Portsmouth and Havant energy and telecommunications company and moving out to Marbella.

Since the show ended Jon appears to have been carrying on his luxury lifestyle, spending his time between Spain and Dubai, while his Twitter account features a successful barber shop he owns on the island.

For Lina her appearance on the show has offered up new acting and reality television opportunities.

In an interview with Women Fitness she said it was strange to be stopped so much in the street for chats and selfies with fans.

Last year she also took part in the ITV show Playa in Marbella.
