If you're curious about what it was like to live through World War II or Vietnam, the Great Depression or the end of segregation, now is your chance to befriend an eyewitness! In Newport News 24,000 citizens (12% of the local population) live in assisted living or retirement communities. Many of these citizens do not have family nearby and would love to befriend and meet regularly with a CNU student. Some examples of where other CNU students have served include the Hidenwood Retirement Community, The Newport, and Newport News Division of Human Services - Adult Services.

Arts & Culture

In this service track you'll work in cultural arts centers, museums, and historical foundations to strengthen our community's sense of beauty and place. These are important and often-neglected components of healthy cities and citizens. Some examples of where other CNU students have served include the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center, Mariner's Museum, and the Peninsula Fine Arts Center.

In this service track yo'll support and expand the capacity of a local agency to accomplish its community support mission, whether through disaster relief, military family services, or blood drives through the American Red Cross.
