Joanna Newsom is an American harpist, keyboardist, vocalist, lyricist and actress. Her albums include The Milk Eyed Mender, Ys, Have One on Me, and most recently, Divers. She starred in Inherent Vice along with Joaquin Phoenix. She is married to Andy Samberg.

Chan Marshall is better known by her stage name Cat Power. She is an American singer-songwriter, musician, occasional actress, and model. Cat Power was originally the name of Marshall's first band, but has come to refer to her as a solo artist. Her albums include What Would the Community Think, Moon Pix, You Are Free, The Greatest, and Sun.

Carrie Rachel Brownstein is an American musician, writer, and actress. She first came to prominence as a member of the band Excuse 17 before forming the punk-indie trio Sleater-Kinney. During a long hiatus from Sleater-Kinney she formed the group Wild Flag. During this period, Brownstein wrote and appeared in a series of comedy sketches with Fred Armisen which were then developed into Emmy and Peabody Award-winning satirical comedy TV series Portlandia. Sleater-Kinney has since reunited and Brownstein is touring with the band as well as in support of her new memoir during 2015.

Annie Clark, better known by her stage name St. Vincent, is an American Grammy-winning musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She began her music career as a member of the Polyphonic Spree and was also part of Sufjan Stevens's touring band before forming her own band in 2006.

Jenny Lewis is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actress. She was the primary vocalist of the indie rock band Rilo Kiley, and has released three solo albums. She has collaborated with The Postal Service, Cursive, and Elvis Costello.

Sharon Van Etten is a singer-songwriter from Brooklyn. Van Etten was encouraged by Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio to pursue a career in music. NPR Music asserts: "Her songs are heartfelt without being overly earnest; her poetry is plainspoken but not overt, and her elegant voice is wrapped in enough rasp and sorrow to keep from sounding too pure or confident."
