How does an electric pool pump work?
An electric water pump or electric pump is a centrifugal pool pump powered by electricity. A centrifugal pump is driven by an impeller. An impeller works basically like a miniature carousel, that is, it rotates very fast and this creates a centrifugal force that compresses the water against the outside of the blade. In a way, the impellers are only blades that extend from a disk.

When turning, the high speed of the impeller forces the water to go from the inside out. The amount of water to be pumped also depends on the speed of the impeller: the faster it turns, the more water is pumped. The impeller rotates in only one direction, so the water is ejected in only one way. Even if the pump is submerged, it works similarly.
