Coffee is very good for hair. It increases circulation and stimulates hair for proper hair growth. It’s also known as a natural hair dye that can give instant shine, highlights and color to the hair. It’s not only safe but it’s also very much affordable. It’s a very good alternative to pricey dyes available in the market. Plus you can naturally dye your hair at home making them smooth, shiny and soft. Coffee is rich in anti-oxidants which helps in repairing damage and prevents breakage of hair strands. If you rinse your hair with it, it can also clarify hair.

Ingredients Required:

  • Coffee powder
  • Water
  • Spray bottle
  • Wide toothed comb
  • Hair conditioner
  • Shower cap
  • Shampoo
  • Coco powder (optional)


Method – 1: Coffee Hair Spray:

1. Take water and coffee powder to brew 2 cups of black strong coffee. 
2. Pour this into a clean spray bottle. Wash your hair with shampoo first.
3. Spray it on your hair properly making sure each and every hair strand gets wet with coffee.
4. Take a wide toothed comb and comb gently spreading the coffee from roots to tips if you have long hair.
5. Leave it for at least 30 minutes letting your hair to soak well in it and then rinse well.
6. Do this once a week for your desired color to stay.

Method – 2: Coffee Hair Rinse:

1. Like before, brew strong black coffee and keep it aside till it cools down to room temperature.
2. Wash your hair well with a shampoo and then pour this coffee mixture over head slowly. Massage with your fingers and hands from roots till tips.
3. Do this till all the coffee mixture is used up. Cover your head and hair with a shower cap and leave it for 20 – 30 minutes and then rinse well.
4. Do this for at least twice a week for your desired color and keep the color stay there.

Method – 3: Coffee Hair Dye:

1. Like you always make, brew ½ cup organic coffee and leave it for some time to cool down.
2. Take a clean bowl with a cup of your regular hair conditioner in it and add 1 tbsp of organic instant coffee to the bowl.
3. Now mix the brewed coffee to the coffee and conditioner mixture in the bowl and mix well.
4. Apply this to your hair evenly like a hair mask and cover your hair with a shower cap.
5. Leave it for around 1 hour and then wash with a mild shampoo.
Coffee can stain your clothes. So you need to be careful while you do this.

You can also use black tea but you shouldn’t shampoo hair. If you want, you can add some cocoa powder to this mixture for even darker hair. If you are habitual to henna, you can add this coffee mixture to henna dye and use it too for dark and lasting color.
