The Ghost of Betty - Odessa

The Ghost of Betty - Odessa

In West Texas, there is a legend that if you park across the street from Odessa High School, flash your headlights three times and call for Betty – her ghost will appear at the windows of the school auditorium, according to Texas Monthly.

According to legend, Betty attended the high school decades before and participated in many school plays. The story of how Betty dies varies. Some say she fell of a ladder in the auditorium and broke her neck; others say she hung herself in the theater. There is even one theory that her boyfriend shot her while she was onstage.

Despite what actually happened to Betty, her legend lives on. Whenever a light flickers in the high school or a sound goes unexplained, the faculty and students always blame Betty.
