Spooky Stories

Author Adam Carew will be bringing ghoulish local tales from his best-selling book – from the sinister top-hatted horse rider near Whitehill to the Watcher in the Woods on the Bordon Inclosure – to a free talk at Emsworth Library tonight at 7.30pm.

Introduction to Opera

Starring internationally acclaimed sopranos Olga Perrier and Ecaterina Danu, Ellen Kent’s production of La Bohème is traditionally staged at the Kings Theatre, Southsea and features beautiful sets and costumes.

Charity Comeback

Portsmouth punks Senator are reuniting for the first time in six years in the name of charity.
Along with Group of Man and Hack Job, they will be playing at The Edge of The Wedge in Southsea on Tuesday, February 28 in aid of The Rowans Hospice.
There will be a raffle with dozens of prizes including donations from Southsea Tattoo Co., Washed Out Festival and numerous bands.
Doors open 7.30pm, tickets £4.

Tribute to the Big O

With his uncanny resemblance to, and ability to replicate the sound of Roy Orbison, Barry Steele is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading tributes to the legendary singer.
Steele brings The Roy Orbison Story to The Kings Theatre in Southsea as part of its 10th anniversary tour on Thursday, March 2 at 7.30pm.

Meet the Director

'I, Claude Monet' is a fresh new look at one of the most influential artists of all time – through his own words in letters and other private writings.
Director Phil Grabsky will be introducing his documentary at a special screening hosted by Chichester Cinema on Saturday, before a Q&A session directly afterwards.

Quiet Reflections

Eighty-three-year old Lorna Barton is putting on her first art exhibition.
The exhibition, entitled Essence, also features the work of Ruth Collins.
Lorna studied at Portsmouth Art College in the 1950s, but never graduated, instead following a career in nursing.
It takes place from today until Thursday, March 2 at Art Space in Brougham Road, Portsmouth.

Depictions of the Downs

Self-taught artist Nic Cowper is debuting his next show, New Work: South Downs Sketchbook, on Monday at Chichester’s Oxmarket Centre of Arts.
Nic will be selling some of his elegant small paintings and mounted sketches at the showcase of his development work leading to April’s Emsworth Arts Trail.

Hitting the Rails

Head to The Ashcroft Arts Centre in Fareham on Thursday, March 2 from 7.30pm, for a night of music and film in the company of American duo, The Grahams.
The evening will open with a short film, The Grahams Rattle the Hocks.
After the film, the band will play songs from their critically acclaimed album Glory Bound and Rattle The Hocks, which was inspired by their adventures and experiences.
