E3 is only a few short weeks away from the time of this writing and team GAMBIT is prepping like crazy. Any day now our "Best of E3" badges should be here and will grace the walls of the games that blow us away. And while so many press outlets are going to fawn over all the AAA titles we are going to focus on games that don't always get the attention they should. But before we hit the floor and find something that impresses the hell out of us, we are going to put together a little list of a few titles we can't wait to check out.

God of War - PS4

Last summer we got to see the new God of War behind closed doors and were really impressed with what we saw. We wanted to give it one of our "Game of Show" awards but our rules state that a game must release before the following E3 rolls around. The live gameplay showed a gorgeous world in an entirely new Norse setting and a new kid sidekick that will probably play a large role in the game. Personally we were hoping for some new gods like Jesus, but that simply isn't in the cards. Rumors also indicate that while God of War won't see release until 2018 a new God of War PlayStation VR title should be here by holiday time.

Spider-Man - PS4

One of the biggest surprises at E3 last summer was the announcement that Insomniac games was working on a Spider-Man tilte exclusively for the PS4. Sony has not made any announcement regarding the title being at the show, but let's face it, it's going to be there in some manner after the buzz it generated last year. We don't know much outside the video we got last year, so we are hoping to at least get some gameplay videos at the very least, and getting our hands on the title if the stars align. Insomniac is a fantastic developer and we are excited to see what they do with the Spider-Man franchise and that slick new suit.

Super Mario Odyssey - Switch

Super Mario Odyssey is a really weird title from Nintendo. Mario has worked really well in the colorful Mushroom Kingdom, but this time Mario is jumping into the real world. While the gameplay videos that we've got so far show a game that look really fun, pairing up the cartoon Mario with real looking character models is really creepy. Does this mean that Mario isn't from the human world? Is everything we know about him a lie? Who knows, but we a rumored release date for Holiday 2017 (it would give the Switch a solid killer app after Zelda) it would make sense for Nintendo to show off the title in some capacity.

Vampyr - Multi

Focus Home Interactive has been on a roll this past year with some really solid titles that are pushing the publisher into competition with the big AAA developers. We saw a little of Vampyr last year and feature a gameplay trailer earlier this year, so we are excited to get our hands on the game at E3. The team have been strangly quit regarding this one so best bet is that they will be showing off the title behind closed doors. The studio has claimed that player will "write their own stories" when they play the game, so it clearly has our attention if it can even come close to actually pulling off that claim.

Call of Cthulhu - Multi

Call of Cthulhu is another title that has been on our radar and earns Focus Home two spots on this list. This one will be part of the closed door showing, so we hope to have more solid details as we only have the trailer released last year. The studios under Focus Home like to run silent and that might be for the best as their games are making waves with gamers. The only thing we do know about this stealth based, action RPG is that the studio will be showing off a developer lead gameplay walkthrough at this years show. You can better believe we are going to be there to see how the game is looking.

Call of Duty WW2 - Multi

Having the Call of Duty franchise return to World War 2 is a breath of fresh air to a series that long ago stopped being "Modern" with exo-suits and space planes. I can remember when WW2 was played out in the FPS world, but the video game industry runs on cycles. We don't know much about Call of Duty WW2 other than it will feature recreations of some of the major battles of the war. Rumors and hints indicate that the game will feature Operation Cobra, one of the largest aerial bombardments in the history of the human race. If the game can pull off such a huge set-piece that would be damn impressive.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War - Multi

The original Middle-Earth game is one of the best action adventure titles of the past decade. It has a mechanic so unique that it boggles the mind other developers haven't attempted something similar. Thankfully the Nemesis System is back and better than ever in Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. We've already got nearly an hour of gameplay from the game, but we really need to get our hands on it to see if it plays as good as it looks. The game takes place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings so we can hope for some cameos from famous characters this time around. I'd even be happy with some alternate history DLC like was done with The Force Unleashed games.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins - Multi

A newly dropped leak for Assassin’s Creed: Origins has revealed a lot about the upcoming title. It looks like the games setting will be set in ancient Egypt, and the game will serve as a prequel to the series. The Reddit leak (before it was deleted) showed off a character with shiled and bow on a small wooden ship that would look right at home on the Nile. Ubisoft has always had trouble keeping their Crede games under wraps and it would make sense that they would show Origins off at E3 as the title is also rumored to drop during holiday 2017. IWe're glad that Ubisoft has been quiet on this one so we have out fingers crossed that the game isn't a broken mess when it drops.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - Switch

Nintendo is slowly losing its mind and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle proves that. I can almost guarantee that there wasn't a single person out there that wanted, or expected a crossover like this to happen. It's even more strange when you realize the Rabbids have been long dead. Rumors indicate that the game will have a robust 20-hour campaign mode that will feature two-player co-op. It's also being reported that the game will have a holiday 2017 release date. We think that this game is nothing more than Nintendo trying to court Ubisoft to publish more titles on the Switch after they pretty much pulled out from doing anything on the Wii U. Still, we are interested in seeing what they do with this "interesting" crossover.

Borderlands 3 - Multi

Borderlands 3 is bound to make a showing at E3 this summer, especially after Battleborn was a disaster for Gearbox last year. The studio has been tight lipped on the title, but we did get a little bit of info from GDC earlier this year when the team showed off the new tech they are implementing for the game. Chances are we will get some news on the title, but we aren't expecting a full blown reveal as what we saw in March showed a very early prototype. Our bet is a story trailer that steers away from any gameplay. We are five years removed from Borderlands 2, so we are ready to get back to vault hunting.
