When Loraine Maurer's husband, Kenneth, retired due to disability in 1973, she was 50 years old, but she thought they were still much too young to retire. So she went and got a job at their local McDonald's in Evansville, Indiana. 44 years later, though, she's still working happily there and has no intention of quitting.
I would miss it too much. I don't want to get depressed and it's not that I don't look forward to going to work. ... It's not a job. I really and truly enjoy it. Life is what you make it. And so I'm trying.

This year, however, the store's owners decided to celebrate her 44 years of service with a special party.
Loraine has quite a following. That's to say the least, really. She has lots of very loyal costumers who come especially to our restaurant to see her.

It was wonderful. The only thing is there were so many people there that I couldn't talk to them all.
