A high school football team is receiving a great amount of praise...
Cardinal High School football team practices for an upcoming game.
But this time, it has little to do with football!
Football players from Cardinal High School in Middlefield, Ohio, are receiving heartfelt high-fives from members of their community for coming to the aid of an elderly couple in need.
But, what exactly did they do?
The Cuyahoga River
In July, football players from Cardinal High School were on a ten-mile team building canoe trip when they came across an elderly couple in need of assistance. The couple, in their 70's, had been treading water for over 20 minutes and were unable to resurface over the dangerously rocky and muddy river bank.
They were stuck in a situation they couldn't handle. The gentleman was in the water. He couldn't stand up.

Luckily, Cardinal High School football team was nearby!
Several team members of the high school football team then jumped into the water with zero hesitation and rescued the couple. With the use of oars, the elderly couple was able to make it safely back onto land and much to their relief!
Team members are happy they could help!
It's nothing special that we did. It's just something that I feel we should do as humans, just look out for each other."

In addition to the heartfelt praise, the high school plans to honor these students at the next board meeting!
Shortly after their rescue, the couple wrote a heartfelt letter to the school letting them know how grateful they are for the team's rescue. Were it not for the brave acts of these young men, the couple feels this story may have ended up differently and at the cost of their lives.
