An Urgent Plea

Shocking discover on the way home...

Alfred Barlow was on his way home to Stockport, England, after revisiting a war memorial, when he realized all four of his medals had gone missing.

Mr. Barlow noticed the medals were gone during the family's pitstop to use the restrooms at Norton Canes Services.

Immediately, he and his grandson retraced their steps, inquiring at all the outlets and at the lost property depot, to no avail.

It's not just a piece of metal. It's recognition of what part I played in that invasion.

I want to be able to pass them on to my grandson. I want them back - they mean so much to me.

Please bring them back. That's all I ask.

A Happy Ending!

Barlow is presented with a replacement set...

Shortly after Mr. Barlow's story generated high interest across the web, he was presented with replacement medals by a representative from Blind Veterans UK.

Now Mr Barlow, who fought on the Normandy beaches more than 70 years ago, can once again sleep soundly knowing that his role in the war will never be forgotten. Alfred is happy to be passing down the medals to his beloved grandson.

I'm very grateful for all the attention that has been afforded me today.
