On Valentine's Day of 2016, Anna Claire Waldrop and her now-husband and high school sweetheart, Jimbo Waldrop, were in the process of planning their wedding when their car was hit by a drunk driver. Jimbo was thrown through the sunroof, but Anna Claire was trapped in the vehicle, which rolled four times. Both survived, but Anna Claire lost the use of her legs and arms.
I was very scared. I wondered ‘Will I ever be happy again?’ But the thought of my upcoming wedding was motivation to get better.

Although Anna Claire says she never had a moment where she realized she would never walk again, she became anxious after starting therapy with other patients, but her impending nuptials inspired her to recover.
I remember nurses and my family talking at the hospital about how with my kinds of injuries, you never know how long it will take to come back. I knew my wedding was coming up and I didn’t want to change the date, it pushed me to recover.

By the day of the wedding, Anna Claire had regained use of her left arm and her wrists and even had a gorgeous gown to get married in.
According to Anna Claire, Jimbo has been by her side through the entire process and now plans on installing a home gym to help her continue her process of recovery and they are now beginning to plan their future family.
We are loving married life. I try not to focus on what I’ve lost, but try to focus on what I have already — and that’s my advice for anyone who has gone through something like I have.
