After claiming that senate democrats wanted a government shutdown last week, Donald Trump tweeted this morning that this is precisely what he now hopes will happen in September. Do you think a government shutdown would fix bipartisanism?
Less than a week ago, Donald Trump accused democrats in the senate of wanting to shut down the government for their own gain. This morning, he tweeted that he thinks a government shutdown is precisely what America needs after compromise in the senate led to an agreement on Sunday that would keep the government running through September.

However, a government shutdown would cost the United States billions of dollars. During the 16-day partial shutdown in 2013, the United States lost $28 billion. Additionally, many senate republicans are wary of eliminating the nuclear option when it comes to legislature. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell spoke on the issue, saying:
Who would be the biggest beneficiary of that right now? It would be the majority, right? There's not a single senator in the majority who thinks we ought to change the legislative filibuster. Not one.
