Everything You Need To Know About DPF Filter

You will not find a lot of information regarding DPF on the internet. The reason behind this isolation of Diesel Particulate Filter or DPF on the internet is most people don’t even know something like this even exists.

So, this blog today will discuss what a DPF is and how exactly does it work? And whether you should or should not remove DPF?
Let’s talk then.

Working

First thing first, working of the DPF is quite simple in a diesel car, it removes the soot from the smoke engine generates.

It is attached between the exhaust and the engine beneath the car body. There is a mazy structure inside the diesel particulate filter.

Now, this mazy structure is designed in such a way that the harmful soot particles, diesel engine create sticks in it.

This whole process saves a lot of lives daily because soot is very detrimental to human lungs and the entire environment. This is why genuine dpf delete kits are so essential.

A Blocked Diesel Particulate Filter

After a given time, the Diesel Particulate Filter is completed its circle and is blocked. In some cars, there is a particular indicator placed just below the speedometer, which tells you about the DPF’s health.

If your DFP indicator is blinking, then it is time for the dpf regeneration, if the light is yellow that means the DPF regeneration will be needed soon.

However, if the DPF indicator has gone red, it means you must get the regeneration done in a day or two. Red light also means your car can stop working anytime now.

How To Unblock A Diesel Particulate Filter

Many new cars unblock the diesel particulate filter by themselves. All you got to do is, just take it to a long, keep the speed between 60-70 and the heat will take care of the blockage by itself. This process is known as passive regeneration.

In some other new cars, you have to initiate the active regeneration. In this process, the vehicle infuses diesel into the exhaust. The diesel then ignites the soot and burns the grit off.

Third and the costliest way of regeneration is the forced regeneration. This is also not recommended because it can damage your DPF permanently.

In this process, the mechanics do the manual regeneration. The mechanics heat up the diesel particulate filter up to the level where it burns the soot off.

To Remove The DPF Or Not To

Removing a DPF is an option in many states but not in the all. You must always check your local laws before deleting dpf from your vehicle.

If it is okay to delete the dpf in your state then always use dpf delete kits for the process and nothing less.

Deleting the diesel particulate filter is a reasonable upgrade in trucks in some states, and allegedly it improves the mileage, horsepower and extends the engines life.

Conclusion

So, this is the much-needed information that is so hard to find on the internet. Again take note before deleting dpf from your vehicle check the local law and use genuine dpf delete kits always.
