Kendall Jenner, now behind the cameras

Being the most-paid model in the world according to Forbes 2017 data, seems to be not enough to Kendall Jenner. She had many advantages while becoming a model, such as the fame and family connections, which give her an easy start within the industry.

After taking part on the television program Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kendall lose credibility and respect. So, although her easy way of becoming a model, her big raise and growth was all her work. Her big fashion debut happened on Marc Jacobs catwalk autumn/winter 2014. From then on, Kendall has made fashion campaigns for Calvin Klein, Fendi, La Perla…, as well as her appearance in catwalks for couture firms such as Channel, Gucci, Balenciaga…, among others.

Being very active within social media has play an important role in her career, from which she has learned a few issues about photography. Besides that, Kendall has spent plenty of time in front of a camera, and now she is positioning behind it. Kendall, being a fashion model, has spent a huge amount of time on photoshoots, so she has been around cameras and she knows how the process works, as well as what role each person plays on set. She has also learned lighting and cameras angles. That is the reason why Kendall Jenner has a unique vision in how to get what she wants from the people she photographs.

Her interest in photography and image-making started to be shown online, concretely on Instagram. She started to share some snapshots of her friends on her Instagram account in 2016.

So, the 22-model Kendal Jenner is switching to the photography area. She is aware about that she is going to have a fight again to gain the respect of their colleagues. “She has worked very hard to gain credibility within the fashion industry, she knew that people would not always take her seriously for being a Kardashian, and she is aware that now can happen the same thing again with her work as a photographer. But she has shared so much time with professionals so respected in photoshoots that she has learned many tricks”, said a source close to the famous family clan.

The real and professional inclusion of Jenner within the photography field began last year with her photoshoot for LOVE Magazine. The magazine offered the model the chance of trying by her own hands at a fashion editorial. Kendall photographed Kaia Berger, Cindy Crawford’s 15-year-old daughter, for a 10-page report.

These portraits were set in the California desert surroundings, pictures inspired by the ease and odd cool of the 90’s editorial images.

Then in July of this year 2017, LOVE Magazine has required Kendall again to cover a publication in the print version, which resulted in a more than 70-page spread. In this editorial Sienna Miller, among other models who were photographed, said: “I was so impressed with her as a photographer, she’s definitely got an aesthetic. She was really professional, took it very seriously, and understood everything involved.” – she added – “I trust the magazine and I trust Katie, so I thought the photos Kendall took of Kaia Gerber for LOVE issue’16 were beautiful”.

Kendall is aware that her model career is not forever, so she is keeping in mind to continue her photography career, a plan she has approached from her hobbies. “I have multiple folders in my computer and in my phone of all the photos that I’ve taken throughout my life, of my friends, of everything I’ve done. I’ve always genuinely enjoyed photography” – states Kendall in a recent interview. “I will keep working in photography, I am doing many photo sessions, but not only in the fashion world” – reveals in the latest edition of a known fashion magazine.

The future of Kendall Jenner within the photography field is uncertain, but which is for sure is that her incursion within this area sends a powerful message within an industry where the majority of fashion images are still created by men.
