Daniel Jaicks, a 16-year-old from Charleston, South Carolina, only wanted two things for his birthday this year:
- A lawnmower
- For the animals at the Charleston Animal Society to eat well.
He had already received the first from his parents and was very pleased with it.
So, to make his second birthday wish come true, he requested that his friends bring him bags of pet food to be donated to the animal shelter for his birthday in lieu of video games, books, or gift cards. From the 30 guests who attended his party, Jaicks collected a grand total of 170lbs of pet food, numerous pet toys, and $95 in cash to donate to the Charleston Animal Society.
According to his mother, the choice was an easy one for Daniel to make. When she asked if he would prefer gifts or donations, he automatically chose to help the animals in need.
Daniel chose the animals right away. We’re very proud of him for making that choice!
