Since 1983 the Black unemployment rate has gone down by a little over 12 percent.
The gap between the black and white unemployment rates in the US shrunk to a record low in June. Overall, the US economy added 222,000 jobs in June, more than economists had expected. Black unemployment, however, remained much higher than the overall unemployment rate of 4.4%, which in June inched up from a 16-year low.

At this moment 4.1% of black people are unemployed vs 3.7% of whites. It is at a record low. “Something I’m very proud of: African American unemployment stands at the lowest rate ever recorded. And Hispanic American unemployment has also reached the lowest levels in history,” President Trump said. Trump has said that the the rate has declined about 1 percentage point a year.
