Parents all over the internet have been coming to the horrifying realization that their kids' favorite teething toy, Sophie the Giraffe, can become filled with mold.
The discovery began when pediatric dentist Dana Chianese got a whiff of a musty smell coming from her own teething son's Sophie the Giraffe toy. She decided to cut the toy open to see what was going on inside, and what she found was a horrifying mess of mold. Having recommended Sophie as a teething toy for years, she has now firmly changed her mind.
It still hurts my heart to know that for months I allowed my babies to chew on moldy toys. I no longer buy any chew toys with a hole or recommend any to my patients.
