7 Things The New Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. Art Can Tell Us About The Upcoming Film

As San Diego ComicCon draws nearer, fans are getting more and more excited for the film's release next year, and so is James Gunn, who couldn't wait to give us this awesome new art for the film. Here are seven things we can glean from the poster so far.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are still looking badass.

Here we see the original squad (kind of) with some new members and some new costuming. Gamora's gear looks like it's taking some notes from Scarlet Witch, eh?

Baby Groot is still a tiny adorable baby.

He's made it out of his planter, though, and he's walking around with the best of them!

Yondu Udonta, that blue guy who took Starlord from Earth as a kid, is here and seems to have joined the team!

Will the rest of his crew, though? We don't really know.

Nebula, Gamora's blue sister, also seems to have survived and joined the Guardians.

Are we looking at a new reformed villain/antihero dynamic here? I hope so, because extra Karen Gillan screen time is always good with me.

We have a new character, Mantis, who looks awesome.

The role of Mantis will be played by Pom Klementieff.

Mantis, in the comics isn't exactly an alien. She's just raised by the Kree. In the MCU, she's been described as an alien.

She's also a crazy good martial arts expert.

Guardians of the Galaxy producer Jonathan Schwartz has said this of Mantis: "She has never really experienced social interaction. Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from."

So we probably have lots of social humor to look forward to.
