An Unexpected Surprise

Soon, the driver of the car had to pull over

It was clear that the baby was coming much faster than anticipated.

The driver called the local police department for emergency services--the woman was going to birth right there on the road.

Could you deliver a baby on the side of the road?

Calculating results

Sgt. Kristie Hofer and Officer Beth Fountain responded to the call

The Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers arrived on the scene just after midnight, where they discovered that the baby was "crowning" and ready to come out.

Soon after, they helped the woman deliver a healthy baby boy and escorted the new mom to the local hospital for examination.

In a statement afterwards, the Kalamazoo Public Safety department gave their best wishes to the new family and offered congratulations on the birth of the little boy.
