Melissa Slade desperately wanted to meet the man who had helped save her son's life.
She asked the donor program in Indiana for her son's donor's contact information in 2016.
And she reached out to Menafee for the first time, telling him his marrow donation had helped her son beat leukemia.
When Menafee visited the family in Newfoundland over Easter, he promised to plan regular visits in the future.
"This isn't goodbye, it's see you later," he told the family.
