Cristina Penton boarded a Spirit Airlines flight when she was 36 weeks pregnant--and left the airplane holding her new baby.

Cristina went into labor while her plane to Dallas was in the air, causing the flight to be diverted to New Orleans so the new mom and her baby could receive medical attention.

Spirit officials visited Cristina in the hospital soon after she was evaluated and presented her and her son (whom she named Christoph) with gifts.

They also announced that the baby would get free flights for himself and a guest on his birthday for the rest of his life.

Spirit officials were excited over the birth of little Christoph. They announced they are planning a special airfare sale in honor of Christoph's arrival on one of their planes.
