Role of the "Ideal" Man

Men were Mechanics, Plumbers, Bus Drivers, Warehouse Workers, Road Construction workers, and they had office jobs. They had majority of jobs to support their families with the money they earned.

Men were supposed to come home to his family after work and have food prepared by his wife. This was a part of the American Dream.

Lots of men were in the military because of the war that had recently ended and teenagers. After the war that had ended, men in the military came home to their families.

If men and their families lived in the city or in rural areas, some families moved into suburbs. Many men coming back from war, got married and started families in suburbs.

In their homes, men were the head of the household and they were expected to be strong, masculine, and good decision makers.

In TV shows such as the show called Father knows Best reinforced gender roles, showing that men were superior compared to women.

Ads had a similar effect that men in TV Shows did which would remind men that they are superior to women and that men are the sole providers.
