14 Back To School Fashion Trends For 2019

The second coming of Cher Horowitz is upon us! Short, neutral plaid skirts are all the rage right now and they're especially perfect for back to school!

The oversized puffer coat is here to stay. A mid-length puffer is perfect for chilly fall days plus it looks great on practically everyone!

Gender is like...so yesterday. If you're a girl, dressing low-key like a guy is actually pretty cool. Think sneakers, structured jackets, tapered pants and boyish haircuts.

Those puffy headbands from the 90's are back full swing. Basically anything Blossom would wear on her head is fair game. Pick a neutral-colored headband that will go with any outfit.

This trend is pretty strange...but hear us out! The baggy pant trend will still be going strong throughout the fall, but here's the next "step" up. Pairing a baggy pant under a skirt or dress is a bold fashion statement, but pretty soon you'll be seeing it literally everywhere, trust.

You've already seen the matching 2-piece monochromatic sets this summer and this trend isn't slowing down anytime soon. Matching pant suits are no longer corny...they are actually quite cool.

The jumpsuit is IN right now, but there's a catch. It's gotta be structured with lots of pockets and buttons. Think military with a 70's twist.

You will be seeing every shade of orange and yellow this fall. Think about the color of a turning autumn leaf. That's the color to aim for. Ochre, mustard, pumpkin, saffron and terracotta are the shades to look for. Also, earth tones and anything that looks like it came out of an episode of the Brady Bunch is fair game.

We're still holding onto the "slouchy" look when it comes to silhouette. You will see women wearing over-sized pantsuits (like in the 90's) made from lightweight fabrics like canvas.

You'll be seeing knit everywhere...knit t-shirts, knit dresses, knit pants, knit leggings. Anywhere you wouldn't expect to see knit...you'll be seeing it. Cozy!

Ripped light-wash denim is officially out...dark denim is IN. We're taking a cue from the 70's and donning sturdy, dark denim pieces this fall.

This look is so 80's and we love it. A semi-puffy shoulder is going to be all the rage this fall. Think more billowy though, as opposed to shoulder pads.

This is no surprise...but the loose pant trend is here to stay! Cropped culottes are fine for summer but full-length loose pants are perfectly acceptable for fall.

Judging by the 70's trends coming up this fall, this one should be no surprise. Soft corduroy in earth tones like tan, ochre, burgundy and orange are going to be all the rage. Wearing this luxurious fabric in unexpected ways like dresses, maxi skirts and pant suits is the way to go this fall.
