The thing about disasters, especially natural ones is that they always have a way of humbling us as human beings. When disaster strikes, it is almost never envisaged, and even when the people of science take the time to predict it, it is never done early enough. The kind of togetherness that shows human beings banding together under a canopy of compassion and humanity to salve the wounded, to prove that a natural disaster is just not enough to break their spirits. Disasters really do bring this behavior out in people as we see volunteers of different calibers troop out to help.
