On Mar. 28, the president of Howard University confirmed that members of the university including current student Tyrone Hankerson stole money from financial aid funds for their own personal needs.

The student at the center of the scandal is current senior and future law school student Tyrone Hankerson. He had even been seen sporting expensive clothes and spending extreme amounts of money. Since the release of the scandal, Tyrone has deleted all of his social media.

As a response to this scandal, students participated in a sit-in to get the attention of university officials. They even managed to get the attention of the general public.

After a total of 9 days, the university complied with the first demand of the students and promised to provide housing for the upcoming fall semester.

Soon after the end of the 9 day occupation, Tyrone Hankerson has been allegedly beginning a lawsuit against Howard University for $10 million dollars on the premise of giving away his personal information.

Tyrone denies the accusations of any wrong doing towards students at the university. But throughout all the scandals that have plagued the institution, students are still proud to say that they are students of Howard University.
